Acquiring A Beagle.....

Prior to acquiring a Beagle from Beowulf Kennel, there is a protocol to follow which we have found leads to the successful placement of our dogs.  In summary:

If you are involved with showing dogs and are looking for a Beagle that you will show and complete it's championship, then chances are we already know (of) each other so please email me directly at Beowulf8@optonline.net.  There are no geographical limits regarding your residence within the U.S. and we will agree to ship.     

If you are looking for a pet or companion: We are located in Middle Island, New York and prefer to work with families on Long Island so that we may be accessible to them if basic animal husbandry questions arise.  If you live other than on the island, then we would be more than happy to refer you to a breeder in your area....just click on the bugle.

Please fill out our questionnaire by clicking on the bunny. When providing your email address, PLEASE list anything except AOL so that I may reply to you. Responses to AOL addresses result in replies bouncing back to me.

After internet contact has been made, we would like to speak with you on the phone to explore the nuances of Beagle ownership. There is a place on the questionnaire for you to include your phone number or you may email us (Beowulf8@optonline.net) with it.

  The next step would be a visit to the kennel for dogs and people to meet each other and to discuss the contract. Since this is an introduction only, final decisions are made after both parties have had some time to think it over.

  Homes that are "people-less" for more than five hours at a time, are advised to explore the intelligent choice of an older puppy.

The above named dog is guaranteed for a period of seventy - two hours against any health and temperament irregularities and it is recommended that the buyer(s) have the dog examined by a veterinarian during this time.  This dog is also current on all routine veterinary care, including vaccinations and wormings.  A full refund will be given for any dog found unsatisfactory by veterinary exam during the first seventy - two hours and upon return to the seller.

This dog is also guaranteed to be free of hereditary defects affecting its’ suitability as a: _______ functional pet/companion animal or _______ eligible show/companion animal until two years of age.  The seller will apply the complete purchase price toward a replacement dog during the first two years of the dog’s life.  Replacement will be a like quality animal from the next available litter.  A hereditary health problem is defined as a genetic anomaly, not acquired by reason of accident, injury, illness, overindulgence of food, abuse or neglect occurring after the sale. Documentation of the dogs condition must be provided to the seller from a qualified veterinarian or specialist.  All veterinary  expenses associated with this matter will be the responsibility of the buyer(s).  

Should the buyer(s) no longer be able care for the above named dog for any reason and regardless of the animal’s age and condition, the dog must be returned directly to the seller and without expectation from the buyer(s) of any refund or replacement.  The buyer(s) agree to relinquish the right to re-sale or to give away this animal under any circumstances to any persons, organization or agency for any reason in the animal’s lifetime.  If the dog was purchased as a show dog and is now being retired and rehomed, it is only asked out of courtesy that we be notified.  

This dog’s mental and physical health must be of greatest priority at all times with consistent routine visits to the veterinarian, the dog’s weight being consistent with the seller’s recommendation, initial attendance at obedience classes and consultation with the seller should any concerns arise.  This dog is not to run at large at any time and must be exercised on leash or in a securely fenced area.  Use of electronic/invisible fences or tie-outs are not permitted.  The sellers must be notified immediately in the event that this dog accidentally escapes, becomes lost or is deceased.  The sellers will retain their right to ownership and custody of this dog if these stipulations are not complied with.

Any dog returned to the seller must be accompanied by the American Kennel Club registration certificate and all veterinary records.  Buyer(s) must sign off ownership on the back of the A.K.C. registration certificate form.

Dogs that have been evaluated as pet/companion quality are not to be used for breeding purposes at any time and will be neutered/spayed by the buyer prior to eight months of age.  American Kennel Club limited registration papers will be provided to the buyer.  A limited registration allows for a dog or bitch to be registered by the A.K.C. and is eligible to compete in all performance events other than conformation and which also makes the dog or bitch’s offspring ineligible for registration.

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state of New York to the exclusion of any other forum and constitutes the entire agreement between the parties.  The above purchase agreement, consisting of two pages in it’s entirety and dated on the month________________ of day _______________ in the year ________________ ,  is in accordance with both parties understanding and agreement to the terms thereof.
